The powerlifting season is coming to a close. With the girls regional placings in, the boys have one more meet before regionals are finalized.
For the girls, Maylene Caceras and Yuliet Gonzalez will compete at regionals. Boys will know their results next week.
“It’s been a slow season, but not a bad one,” Coach James Talley said. “Next year we’ll be set”
The last meet will be in Leon tonight, and the lifters will be used to the space since they competed there earlier in the season. This meet will determine who makes it to regionals.
“A lot of people on the team have a chance of making regionals,” senior Adam Neptune said. “If they try hard at this meet, it’ll be a lock.”
To place for regionals, the participant must be in the top twelfth of his region. If not they won’t make it to regionals and will end the season in Leon.
“I’m proud of the powerlifters and how the season has gone for them,” Coach Jesse House said. “They have competed against state champs and haven’t backed down.”
