Moms have taken the field again! Football players helped their moms suit up and show off their skills last Wednesday, taking advantage of the bye week to spend some time bonding and making memories.
“I’ve been doing this for a while now and it’s a great way to bring in the community and to overall have lots of fun,” athletic director Jamin Savell said. “It lets the moms see what their kids do and be a part of the team in a new way. I also believe it was a good way to repay them for their constant support.”
The moms were assigned their own set of pads and a helmet as their sons helped them get into their gear. They started with tackling drills first, with moms laughing and cheering each other on as they attempted to knock down their sons.
“This was my first time with the moms camp so it was new to me, but I had a lot of fun with my mom and getting to make memories with her,” freshman Micheal Miller said. “We both had fun Wednesday.”
After the tackling drills the moms moved to the passing and punting drills. They ended the evening by running waterfalls with the players.
“This is my third year doing mom’s camp; my mom and I have done it every year and we always have fun together even though she loves to hit me,” junior Cole Davis said. “I’m glad we could make so many memories and that she could see what we do daily.”
