Hamilton, is a fairly new, upbeat musical about Alexander Hamilton and the founding fathers. It has received 11 Tony Awards and 16 nominations at last year’s Tony Awards. It also won a Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy Award. Not only did Hamilton bring a new sound to Broadway, but it is also bringing about a change of culture in theaters with it’s rap sound and fresh choreography.
The first song in the musical is actually called “Hamilton” and it’s about his upbringing and his difficult early life. Unlike most traditional Broadway songs, most of Hamilton’s songs are rapped. This was a little controversial in the beginning, but soon people fell in love with the sound. The majority of the songs in the musical are rapped, which brings a very hip hop vibe to the table.
