This year’s OAP wrapped up its season last week, earning a state alternate position at regional competition in Brenham. The group finished behind Malakoff and Little River Academy, who will compete at state next week.

“It is really sad to think that was my last OAP competition,” senior Taylor Lack said. “Theater has always been a big part of my life and I am sad it is over.”

This was the first time the team had advanced past the Area competition in eight years.

“I was really excited that all the work the students put in finally paid off,” director Jill Henson said. “We had been working on the play for such a long time, and I really wanted to do it for the seniors.”

The teamed received several individual awards:

Taylor Lack- All-Star Cast

Kaiden Loep- Honorable Mention All-Star Cast

Madison Rowan- Honorable Mention All-Star Cast

Colby Menefee- Honorable Mention All-Star Cast

“It was really exciting to finally get an award,” senior Kaiden Loep said. “Even though we didn’t advance, I am glad we were recognized for our talents.”

The cast will finish out the season with one more community performance on May 6.

“I am glad we get to do it for the public one more time,” sophomore Margarete Jones said. “It is an amazing story and I am so glad I was able to be a part of it. I am sure going to miss this show and the seniors next year.”
