The Lady Bison headed to Centerville for their second tournament for the season with intentions of doing better than their third place the week before – and they did, coming out on top.

“I was very proud of the way they played,” coach Jozette Jenkins said. “The girls executed all the plays and presses very well.”

The girls had to get up early to eat a good breakfast before the first game early in the morning.

“I was very tired and sleepy,” freshman Andrea Daniel said. “It was very worth it though; I love being part of a team that works together and includes everyone.”

The team was very excited to have played against Centerville for first place.

“Although all the games were exciting and exhausting,” senior Jordan Jenkins said. “It was worth it when we got to the championship game and took the win.”

The championship game made everyone very nervous, especially the coaches.

“I must admit, I was very nervous about the game,” assistant coach J.J. Guidry said. “The girls pulled through though; they played with a lot of heart.”

Not only did the team take a team award, several girls took awards for themselves.

“I was very happy about receiving the all tournament award,” freshman Samantha Pate said. “I was surprised but I know I worked hard to earn the award.”
