Officer Amy Gonzalez visits with high school students about the dangers they might encounter on the internet and while using social media.

Students were called to the auditorium last Thursday for an assembly about internet safety with Detective Amy Gonzalez from the Buffalo Police Force. She discussed ways to stay safe online as well as the risks of sending or harboring inappropriate pictures or videos.

“I hate talking to students about this topic,” Gonzalez said. “I hope that these kids don’t have to see me again, because if they do it means their life is going to be changed forever.”

Gonzalez made it her point in the assembly to cover the risk of sending inappropriate images and staying safe from predators on social media. What she had to say was an eye-opener for many of the students.

“I learned a lot at the assembly,” freshman Caleb Montano said. “I never knew this much happened online.”

Jaxon Hardin, Reporter
My name is Jaxon Hardin. I like to play football and to read sometimes - it depends on the book. Other than that I like to cook at home and make different foods and desserts and sometimes play video games when I’m not busy or don’t have homework. My favorite food is a recipe I made myself, Shrimp Cajun Pasta. I also love to work out and work on myself, I enjoy being physically active and involved in sports. I'm even planning on going to a bodybuilding competition in late October, and I'm hoping I win because I heard you can get money for winning and I wouldn’t mind that.
