Young & Hungry follows an unlikely pair of spirited food blogger Gabi Diamond (played by Emily Osment) and a wealthy tech guru Josh Kaminski (played by Jonathan Sadowski), in which Josh hires Gabi as his personal chef. Although she quickly wins over her easy-going boss, Gabi meets more resistance in his aide, Elliot (played by Rex Lee), who had hoped for someone more experienced as a chef.
Predictably, the two have a chemistry that leads them into a less-than-professional start to their relationship. As the show proceeds, Gabi must prove her cooking skills to Josh and Elliot in order to keep the job she desperately needs. The story itself feels somewhat predictable and primarily focuses on this constant tension between Josh and Gabi.
With going back and forth with her relationship with Josh, Gabi constantly goes to her best friend Sofia Rodriguez (played by Aimee Carrero) for her advice, support and pep talks. In contrast, Elliot has made it clear that he does not like Gabi or basically anyone except Josh. You will see Elliot and Yolanda (played by Kym Whitley) frequently bicker at each other throughout the series.
This sitcom shows how Gabi faces challenges both in and outside of the kitchen along with her determination and positive attitude in helping her achieve her career goals. I recommend this show if you’re into the romcom scenario and enjoy watching a cheesy love story.
