The fact that It: Chapter 2 was more terrifying than the first chapter is quite shocking. The sequel to the 2017 film, based on Stephen King’s 1986 bestseller, fast forwards 27 years to adulthood in the Losers’ Club. They reunited back in their hometown because they had always promised to return if the horrid clown began to torture the innocent children of Derry, Maine, once again.
This two-hour-and-50-minute film was released on September 6. It was directed by Andrés Mushchietti with screenplay by Gary Dauberman.
Bill Skarsgard brings a disturbing and haunting vision to the film by showcasing his yellow, crooked teeth and squeaking voice that will keep viewers up at night. Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscom), and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon) are all characters that add more seriousness to the story. Despite the kid-eating clown, the movie also has some humor to it. Bill Hader (RichieTozier) and James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak) are both hilarious characters that will most likely distract viewers from some of the sleepless nights in their future.
Overall, the scares and visuals were frightening and nerve-racking. Unfortunately, some scenes were irrelevant and confusing. For instance, the ending was very odd and absurd. So if you are going for the scares, you will enjoy the movie. If you are worried about a sturdy plotline, this is not the movie for you.
