History is repeating itself as the Lady Bison head to Regionals after their win against Little River Academy with a score of 59-46 Tuesday night.
This was the second year in a row for Buffalo to meet up with Academy in the playoffs, although this year they clashed over the quarter-final title rather than in the final game of the regional tournament. Last year, the Academy Bees came out on top. They were not able to repeat that win this year.
“We knew this would be an important game for us,” senior Lauren Pate said. “We just wanted to redeem ourselves and show how much we have bettered since last year. The true Lady Bison definitely showed up to the game.”
Senior Jordan Jenkins, had a win in mind for the team, scoring a total of 31 points.
“She was amazing out there,” freshman Mollie Dittmar said. “I know she knew that she had a lot riding on her during this game, but she held up well. I am going to be sad after she leaves because she is definitely one of the best players on the team.”
However, the seniors were not the only ones assisting the Lady Bison in the major win. Freshman Samantha Pate was the main defense player for the Bison.
“That was one of the best games ever,” Pate said. “Even though I was worn out by the end of the game, I knew that I had to keep going if we wanted to go to Regionals and beat them. I am just proud of our girls for playing such a great game.”
The Bison spirit section was there for the Ladies through the entire roller coaster game, cheering them on for every point.
“After last night I could not be more proud to be a Bison fan,” junior Jayci Hightower said. “There was such a good vibe from the Buffalo side, and you could feel it. I know the student section was the loudest group there. I just hope that we can cheer for them all the way to state next Friday.”
