Instead of their annual senior night, since there were no senior players on the team, the Lady Bison honored teachers and staff member that has had an impact on their lives before their last home game Friday night.
“That night was very special and unique,” sophomore Itzel Velaquez said. “All the players were able to honor someone that meant something to them.”
The Lady Bison ended up taking a win with a score of 41 to 25 against Frankston.
“The last quarter was when we scored more points,” junior Yomele Almeida said. “I even scored for the team.”
The Bison team did not have the same outcome, falling to Frankston by a point.
“We worked really hard and push through but we fell short,” senior Ryan Rath said. “It was a tough game but I am still proud of my team.”
On Friday night, the Lady Bison played against Teague for the second time this season for the district title. After a close game, the Ladies fell short by ten points due to two key players absent.
Sophomore Taylor Beshears became injured during the second quarter and junior Melanie McGill fouled out during the fourth quarter.
“It killed the good vibes we had, especially since we were already losing, and her injury made it worse because she was a key player,” junior Kaleigh Rhodes said. “I was really worried about her because she took a hard hit.”
The Bison had same the results as the Lady Bison, losing by a few points.
“I feel like the whole team gave it their best out on the court,” junior Dirk Kilgore said. “I know we will do better next time.”
