Over the Thanksgiving break, the girl’s varsity basketball team competed against Kerens in a game hosted at home. The team won 58 to 46.
“It was a hard-fought win,” basketball manager Josalyn Taylor said. “I could tell from where I sit that they were having to work to maintain a lead.”
During this game, sophomore Samantha Pate returned after being injured since the beginning of the season.
“I was so ready to play that day,” Pate said. “I am glad to be back and start to put in work.”
The team’s next game is in Crockett. The players plan to go into this game strong and continue to build on their skills.
“In our previous games, we seemed to come out slow,” junior Melanie McGill. “That is something we need to work on in this next game; we need to come out strong and finish that same way.”
