The Holocaust is always a hard subject to talk about, but the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas reflects on an innocent boy who didn’t know what was going on during the Holocaust and meets a new friend that was held hostage. Too innocent to know that his own father was responsible for the lives (and deaths) of the prisoner, the boy’s concern and love for his friend led to his own downfall.
Director Mark Herman said he made the book into a movie simply because it made him cry. The different scenes of the movie specifically go with the scriptings that cause the mood changes.
The star of the movie is actor Asa Butterfield playing as Bruno. The way he makes the scenes suddenly change into danger, anger, sadness, or happiness is very noticeable. The actors know how to make everything seem very realistic.
This movie is one that will definitely give you the background of the important things that happen and will make you see the real struggle. This movie gives the holocaust more definition and setting. You definitely need to watch this, even if you think that you won’t be interested you will be pulled into it.
