One of Buffalo High School’s very own graduates, Evan Stone, is now a part of the high school teaching staff.  This school year the high school has gained a few new teachers for certain subjects, including the new BIM (Business and Management), which Stone teaches. He is also coaching.

“We posted a job opening for BIM, as we do for all job openings, and as we reviewed applications, Stone caught our eye,” principal Tracy Gleghorn. “I think he is doing great; he is already working hard in the BIM class and on computer skills.”

BIM, which is business class involving introductions to Microsoft programming, web ethics, business management skills and more, have been an interest of Stones and has been his career for 11 years. Stone has been the BIM teacher for schools including in Maud and in Normangee.

“I really became interested in business during college,” Stone said.  “ I ended up getting my minor in Business at Baylor University.”

Not only does Mr. Stone teach  BIM, but he also coaches the boys’ football team and the powerlifting and track teams.

“I became interested in coaching during college when I played for the Baylor football team,” Stone said. “I went to school and played football at Baylor and enjoyed it so much that I knew  I wanted to have a career in both.”

The students already share positive words on Stones teaching and coaching.

“He is a very calm and relaxed teacher, which makes him a very easy teacher to like,” Junior Chase Thompson said. “I’m hopeful that he will give us a successful and interesting learning experience.”

Stone’s main goal for this year in teaching and in coaching is to motivate the students in everything that they do as well as to make students see that they can be their best self.

“I want all students to really think about this sentence means,” Stone said. “I want you to want to wash the dishes.”
