The air is thick with the sounds of people banging metal on metal. Coaches cheer on from the side as power lifters from all around the district push themselves to be number one. Last week, the Buffalo Bison power lifting team dominated at the Leon meet. Several of the lifter took home medals and other awards.
“It was really fun,” freshman Truman Garza said. “This was my first year and it was a good experience.”
Dominguez, Garza and sophomore Jesus Garcia took home first for their weight classes. They received medals and a shirt for their hard work.
“I have worked hard for a while so that I can win first,” Dominguez said. “I hope to do good in the rest of the meets too.”
The power lifters have two more meets left before they can enter the regional meet. Many of them hope to make it all the way to state.
“I love power lifting and I hope to be very successful in it,” Garcia said. “State is something I hope to achieve in all my sports by the time I graduate.”
