The basketball teams ended their week on a positive note with all three teams coming out on top over the Frankston Maidens and Lady Maidens.
“Last Friday was a good day to be a Bison,” sophomore A’Sia Bradley said. “It’s always good to win, but when ALL of our teams win, it’s great.”
The first game of the night was the boys JV team. The boys widened the score and maintained the gap for the an win.
“We didn’t know much about the team,” freshman Jamal Allen said. “We just knew that we couldn’t overlook any team. We came out hitting hard and that paid off a lot.”
Following the JV boys were the Lady Bison. The Maidens held the game close for the first two quarters. However, the girls came into the second half on fire and created a margin that was just too hard for the Lady Maidens to work their way out of. The game ended with a score of 71-37.
“We were playing terrible in the first half,” freshman Samantha Pate said. “We knew that the score should’ve never been as close as it was when the second quarter ended. We came back onto the court in the second half playing like ourselves, which is how we were able to widen the gap in the score.”
The Bison varsity did not have much of a smooth sail to victory. The score stayed tight until the very end of the game when the Bison started to heat up. The ending score was 61-50.
“We knew going into the game that it would be close,” senior Bryce Ryder said. “We’re in fourth place and Frankston is right behind us. We knew that game was important, so we did everything we could to pull of the win.”
