Qualifying meets wrapped up for powerlifting with a final shot in Leon to make the cut. Four Bison lifters qualified for regionals.
“Wednesday went very well and our regional Qualifiers are Kennadi Neal with 220lb, 10th in region; Maylene Caceres with 242 lb, second in region, Yuliet Gonzalez at 165lb, tied for fifth in region, and Mike Brauer at 275lb, sitting fif5th in region,” Coach James Talley said.
Each one of the members have been working hard to stay in tip-top shape for competing.
“I am ready greatly for regionals, Brauer said. “I keep up my routine and I’m in great shape and condition to compete for state.”
Nerves are already at play about the next step: regionals.
“I am very excited to make regionals for the second year in a row, however, I am very nervous,” Caceras said. “But I know I can do it.”
Both the Bison and Lady Bison lifters showed a great deal of growth this season.
“We have a very young powerlifting team,” Talley said. “Those freshmen and the regional members have learned how to lift and will be set up for success next year.”
