Riley North, played by Jennifer Garner, wakes up from a coma after people brutally attack her family, killing her husband and daughter. She seeks justice for their death, but the system fails to do so. Instead. North decides to take things into her own hands by seeking revenge. Riley North is then chased down by the FBI, LAPD, and the underworld.
Peppermint is an action-packed mystery movie full of suspense. However, it falls short of the director’s intentions. The movie claims that “female empowerment” is its main theme, but Peppermint is far from conveying it.
Jennifer Garner is an amazing actress that can carry pretty much any role, but in this movie, she struggles to do so. Peppermint is supposed to be a gritty drama filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense. The key word here is “supposed to be”. The movie is sort of like a comedy in that the watchers will be giggling in probably the darkest parts of the movie. The movie is rated R; however, I don’t recommend watching this movie unless you want a predictable movie with a predictable plot.
