The boys hosted teams for their first home tournament of the year last weekend. The tournament lasted for three days; on the first day, the boys won their two games, playing Normangee (98-48) and Franklin (78-66).
“I was so ready for tournament,” junior Tony Rios said. “After football season, playing basketball gave me such a rush of adrenaline.”
The second day, the boys lost one game and won the other. The boys worked hard during their game against Slocum (62-76) and Rio Vista (85-43), but fell behind during their game with Slocum.
“It was a hard game against Slocum, but I liked the challenge,” junior Jarrett Fishbeck said. “The game prepared us for the other games during the tournament.”
The boys played against Allen Academy for third place on the third day and won that game 70-61. The win moved the boys to a 4-2 overall after the win. The final scores of the tournament were Fairfield in first place, Slocum in second, and Buffalo winning third place.
“The tournament was fun to play in,” junior Luis Porras said. “All the teams fought hard and even though we got third place, we still played hard.”
