Bates Motel is an American psychological horror drama that first aired March 18, 2013. The series is a prequel and reboot to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film “Psycho”.
The first season follows Norma Bates and her son, Norman, as they try and start a new life while running a small-town motel in White Pine Bay. One of the first few nights that they are in White Pine, Norma is sexually assaulted, which dashes her dreams of a fresh start in a new place. Norman knocks the attacker out, and Norma stabs him to death. Instead of calling the police, she thinks it would be better to cover up the murder. Norman makes the cover-up more complicated when he decides to keep the attacker’s belt. The rest of the season is about the Bates’ trying to keep the murder covered up.
The series will take you on a psychological roller coaster, you will be questioning everything. Bates Motel is a must-watch if you like mysteries.
