A CNN report on sexual abuse in nursing homes was published last week with claims that sexual abuse of residents by employees in nursing homes throughout the country are widespread but seldom reported. The National Association of Health Care Assistants released a statement saying it was saddened and sickened by the report and that it would take immediate action to provide additional education on identifying and reporting signs of sexual abuse.
CNN’s report found that more than 1,000 facilities have been cited for somehow mishandling or failing to prevent alleged cases of sexual assault at their facilities in recent years.
