JV and varsity teams both went into week eight with dubs added to their record after winning against the Elkhart Tigers last week, with the JV completely shutting the Tigers out by a score of 22-0.
The game was important for the players so they could build up their district records.
“I’m proud of how we played against Elkhart,” freshman Kyson Simmons said. “This really helped with motivation to go into week eight of the season.”
A lot of time in practice and the film room was put in for this game. The coaches made sure the players didn’t forget how important this game was to the season.
“With this being our way of getting into the playoffs, we made sure to practice for it and be prepared to win against Elkhart,” athletic director Jamin Savell said. “They played their hearts out and came back to Buffalo with a win.”
The teams continued to work and prepare this week in hopes of taking wins against Clifton to strengthen their records. Honing the offensive skills on the teams has been key.
“Once we got our offense to work, playing against these teams seemed to get easier,” junior Lukas Brown said. “I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and I don’t think we’re done winning games.”
The coaches cautioned the players to not let the wins get to their heads and to stay locked in.
“I’m glad what we’ve been doing is finally working,” coach James Talley said. “As long as we don’t get complacent, we will win a lot more games than just two.”
