The Lady Bison basketball team took on Leon before Christmas break and were scheduled to face Life Waxahachie but weren’t able to due to COVID-19 outbreaks in their school. The girls played Leon at home but fell short.
“We had been missing a few of our players when we played the week before, so when we played Leon that was the first time we had our whole team,” sophomore Alison Bing said. “We hadn’t played together at all, so we had to adjust and figure it out during the game.”
The JV team also faced the Leon Cougars, losing 22-35. The varsity team lost with a score of 26-44.
“I feel like the girls did the best with what they had faced not having everyone since the beginning of the season,” head coach Eric Boettcher said. “We did the best we could and have so much room for experience.”
The Ladies faced more cancellations after the district decided on December 11 to move to remote learning for the final week of the semester due to the number of teachers and students becoming ill with COVID. Their scheduled game against Fairfield on the evening of December 11 was canceled, as well as all games and practices for the next week.
