As the season wound to an end, the Lady Bison had their last game in their gym. The girls hosted Groesbeck and came out with a clutch win 52-25 to clinch undefeated district champs.
“Nobody cried, which was good, because I wanted us to be focused for the game,” senior Mollie Dittmar said. “But I knew that didn’t mean the girls weren’t emotional.”
The seniors on the team were Mollie Dittmar, Samantha Pate, Maddie Bates, and Mackenzie Houston. The girls received a bin full of candy and memorable pictures from their teammates, a glass case that had a custom basketball with pictures of them, a hard “earn it” helmet with their names from Mandi Pate, and from Lane Agapiou a basketball with flowers on the inside.
“All the gifts we got were so heartwarming,” Bates said.” I am definitely going to miss how tight we were as teammates and the never-ending support of our community.”
The Lady Bison will play on February 17 in the first round of playoffs against the Rogers Eagles at Bryan high school.
The boys also had their last home game, hosting Frankston and bringing in a win as well. The boys are playoff-bound but still have to determine when and where they will play.
“Playoffs bound, baby,” senior Jamaul Randle said. “That is all I can say.”
The boys’ team only had one senior this year: Jamaul Randle.
“The last ride in this gym and I made the best of it,” Randle said. “I wanna finish it off even better than any year.”
