The Bison baseball team beat Teague Friday night, taking a 15-6 win that secured a playoff berth for the team. The team will play a warm-up game against Franklin Friday at 7:30 at home to help get ready to face Maypearl next weekend in the first round of the playoffs.
“This season was a really good season,” Junior Jose Sanchez said. “I am super happy we made it to playoffs once again. We kind of struggled in some games, but we fought back everytime and got us here.”
The team competed against six other teams for district, playing each team twice.
“This year the boys fought through every game,” Coach Pauler said. “They all want to keep it going. They practiced hard, worked together during practice and during games and practices – they made them fun and bearable. I love the way they keep up such energy even when bad calls are made.”
The first round of the playoffs will be a best out of three. The first game will be May 4 at 5:00 pm, and game two will be May 5 at 1:00 pm. If a third game is needed, it will begin 30 minutes after the end of game two. All games will be at Waco ISD Veterans Field 2; admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.
“I’m a freshman, and being able to go to playoffs with them is really cool,” Benito Avila said. “We worked hard to get here, and hopefully it pays off to where we go far and win state. I have a good feeling about this team.”
