The district golf tournament last week resulted in two medals: one for junior Noah Rubel and one for junior Makayla Gilliam. Gilliam will be heading on to regional competition, with Rubel missing out after losing a tie-breaker.
The students competed at Teague. Gilliam placed fifth overall in district and finished as the first individual medalist. Rubel finished tied for second overall in district and with a scorecard playoff, finished second outright. He had to compete in a playoff hole for the second spot as an individual medalist to earn a trip to regionals, and lost that playoff, missing the regional tournament by one.
