The Bison line up for their next play during their game against Hearne. Their win put them into a playoff slot.

After the win against Hearne last Friday night, the varsity boys have been focused extra hard on practices this week to be prepared for their playoff game tonight against Newton. The game will be played in Huffman at 7:30.

“Making it to the playoffs feels great,” senior Kyle Simpson said. “The coaches are confident that we will win easily.”

While the Newton team is first in their district, the coaches and players feel like focusing on their best game gives them a great chance to advance past tonight’s game.

“I feel like if we play like we have been in practice, we have a good chance,” coach Bryan Paular said. “They’ve worked hard all year long and deserve to be where they are, and we as a coaches staff are excited for Friday.”

Heading to the playoffs is definitely stressful, but players like quarterback Logan Freeman have managed to juggle all of their regular school events as well as get ready for the game.

“I think we are well prepared,” senior Logan Freeman said. “We have had a goods week of practice and will come out with a win tomorrow.”

The coaching staff is as excited for a chance to shine as the players.

“This is the first time, I’ve ever been a part of a playoff football game,” coach Aaron Snow said. “It’s exciting; it’s something different for all of us especially to be playing football this time of the year, and I think if we try our best we will accomplish many goals.”

The excitement has not stopped them from focusing on what they needed to do all week to prepare.

“I’m excited,” head coach Gary Grubbs said. “I’m really proud of theses guys; we’ve really came along ways to get to this point and are playing the best football we have this year.”
