The Lady Bison huddle up on the court for a good-luck wish during the Pink Out pep rally the Friday before their tie-breaker game against Rice. The team won the game to clinch third place, and will start their play-off run Tuesday night at Madisonville High School with a game against Anderson-Shiro.

The Lady Bison won in three matches in a tie-breaker against Rice Monday night to clinch third place in district. The win was not easy, with the team stretching the third match to 29-27, but it was a win that moved them up in the standings. Post-season play starts Tuesday night, with the Lady Bison taking on Anderson-Shiro at Madisonville High School starting at 6:00.

The ladies took Rice with ease in the first two matches, pulling in 25-9 and 25-15 victories. Rice fought back during the third match, however, determined to keep the Bison team from coming out on top.

“I knew they were going to try to come back and beat us,” junior Erykah Anderson said. “I didn’t think it the game would be as close or long as it was at the end, though”

Anderson-Shiro is second in their district, but coach Daryl Skelton hopes that his team continues to work together to make it deep into the playoffs.

“The young ladies came out with a goal of getting back into the playoffs after missing out last year,” coach Daryl Skelton said. “They have worked hard since two-a-days began back in August, and this is their reward.  We have had our ups and our downs, but through everything the girls have kept a great attitude, believed in each other and represented our school and community with pride.”
