Senior Jessica Presutti works on her agility during after school practice. Even though the volleyball team is moving into the playoffs, the basketball girls were starting their season. Players on both teams doubled up on practices.

It’s time to break out the “high tops” again. The Lady Bison started basketball practice last week and are busy getting ready for a busier-than-ever season that includes a trip out of state to join in tournament play.

As the upcoming season approaches, the team is devoting most of its time to being on the court, even on weekend practices.

“I’m holding Saturday practice with hopes of preparing the girls that are not in volleyball quicker in terms of preparing for the season,” head coach Jozette Jenkins said.

Keeping the season even more hectic is the fundraising the team is doing to compete in the KSA basketball tournament in Orlando, Florida during the Christmas holiday. This is the first time in the high school’s history that any basketball team has traveled out of state to play basketball.

“I’m excited because we will get to compete against teams from different states and experience different levels of play,” sophomore Taylor Shelton said. “I’m happy to be spending so much time with my teammates.”

After making it to the second round of the playoffs last year, the ladies are setting high expectations for themselves again this year. At this point, coming together as a team is a major goal.

expectations for themselves. Last year, the team went second round in playoffs.

“Our main goal is to play as a team and to help eachother out,” sophomore Maci Hoffman said. “I’m hoping to go farther than we did last year and to set new records as a team.”
