Golf season is here, and Wednesday senior Noel Rubel and junior Kassidy Bell traveled to Willis to play in the first tournament of the season. Since Bell and Rubel are veteran golfers and were on last year’s district champion team, golf coach Robert Rubel felt they were ready for a tournament.
“Both of these girls did well, especially for it being the first tournament of the year,” Rubel said. “Tournament golf is a lot harder than practice golf, and these girls went out and represented Buffalo well. They played great, and I am very proud of them .”
Both Rubel and Bell said they were ready to go out and play.
“I wasn’t nervous about this tournament, because it was only the first one so I wasn’t expecting myself to play perfectly,” Bell said. “It was very fun and I feel like I did pretty well considering we haven’t had too many practice days.”
Coach Rubel said he is always pleased with how his golfers play. He doesn’t look at the score; he looks at how they try to improve themselves or each other throughout the season.
“This was definitely not the best tournament that we have played, but it wasn’t awful,” Noel Rubel said. “I know that this was definitely not my best and that there is a lot of room for improvement. Overall I thought this was a fun tournament to start off the season.”
