Jeff Sessions has been confirmed as the 84th Attorney General of the United States of America, despite fierce Democratic opposition due to his record on civil rights and immigration. He was confirmed nine days after Trump fired previous Attorney General, Sally Yates, because she said the Justice Department Generals would not defend his executive orders on immigration.

Democrats knew they could not stop his confirmation; however, they tried to drag it out. Democrats doubt that Sessions will stand up to Trump on immigration issues, especially after Yates was fired. Democrats have asserted that he will not do enough to protect the rights of minorities, the LGBTQ community, and women rights, However, Republicans say Sessions has demonstrated that he is honest and committed to justice.
