Fear the Walking Dead more thought-provoking than typical zombie shows

AMC has done it again with yet another post-apocalyptic TV show. Fear the Walking Dead is a spinoff of AMC’s popular The Walking Dead. It tells how the apocalypse that everyone knows and loves began.

A disease and mysterious disappearances start the show off, then it switches its focus onto Madison Clarke (Kim Dickens), Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), Madison’s son and daughter (Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam), Travis’ son and ex wife (Lorenzo Henry and Elizabeth Rodriguez).

Madison and Travis fall in love, and while they are trying to bond with one another’s children, the apocalypse begins and plunges them into a world of terror. They must choose whether to run and find a new home or stay and fight for the one they have.

The show had its premiere a couple of weeks ago so there is still time to catch up. It is slow- paced but interesting and keeps viewers on the edge of the seat the entire time. Fear the Walking Dead is chilling and spooky rather than the usual in-your-face zombies. It has been rated TV-14 for its violence and gore. It might give your younger siblings nightmares, so cover their eyes when necessary.
