Age doesn’t matter
Age should not define us, as sixteen-year-old Hannah O’Sullivan proved when she recently made history on the Symetra Tour, the Ladies Pro Golf Association developmental circuit. O’Sullivan is a junior at Chandler Hamilton High School in Arizona. She won the Gateway Classic to become the youngest champion in the tour’s history.
O’Sullivan replaced the last youngest winner, Cristie Kerr. Kerr was 17 when she won the 1995 Ironwood Futures Classic in Gainesville, Fla.
O’Sullivan has verbally committed to play golf at the University of Southern California. Of course, she may have to give that some second thought now.
“Age is no barrier. It’s a limitation you put on your mind,” Jackie Joyner-Kersee said.
O’Sullivan’s accomplishment has proved that there is no age limit to being a winner. “Too young” is nowhere near close to an acceptable excuse. This just goes to show that with hard work and determination you can do whatever you put your mind to.
