It’s not all bad news

In a week swirling with ever-increasing bad press for the NFL, it is important to remember that not all of the players are making negative press. There are plenty of happy-ending stories out there, too.

Ex- Raven Ma’ake Kemoeatu quit football to donate kidney to his younger brother, ex-Steeler Chris Kemoeatu. Chris spent seven seasons with the Steelers before his ailing kidney caused him to quit. He’s been suffering from kidney problems since the eighth grade.

“He couldn’t play anymore, and I didn’t want to be in a position where he couldn’t play but I’d keep playing,” Ma’ake said, via the Associated Press. “As soon as my brother’s health was at risk I wanted to stop everything.”

Things like this are greater than football. With all of the negativity currently surrounding the NFL, this is a story that we can read and actually smile about. Media never shows this side, the caring side, of NFL players.
