The Buffalo Bison hosted the Winona Wildcats at their home turf Friday; it was an offensive shootout, but the Bison ended up losing with the score settling at 44-46.
The Buffalo Bison knew it would be an equitable match when they faced Winona. The Wildcats had yet to win a game this season and the energy was high on both sides of the field.
“Both teams were looking for a win to add to our record,” athletic director Jamin Savell said. “We just underestimated them, and they expanded on that.”
The game showcased the offensive teams, with neither defense finding an answer to the constant scoring. However, the Bison defense was able to keep the run game controlled.
“We did really well on the run defense, now we just need to figure out our assignments in the secondary to stop the pass,” coach Jesse House said. “We still have time to work and figure things out defensively.”
The Bison will be away at New Diana for their next game, facing an undefeated team.
“New Diana is a really good football team and they have everything they need planned out,” coach Chuy Rodriguez said. “We’ll have to fight to win.”
