FFA kicked off their CDE season when they traveled to Rosenberg for their the annual Katy invitational CDE contest last week.
Due to damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and flooding, Katy had moved their contest to Rosenberg at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds.
“I do not think I really realized the damages left by the hurricane and flooding until I saw what it was effecting,” junior Cheyenne Eitson said. “I am glad that there were ways for us to still compete in the contest. The contest has always been a great way to practice.”
FFA students have had practice during power hour and study independently at home.
“CDE events require a lot of studying, especially if it is your first year,” junior Ally Smith said. “I always try to break it down for the newbies during practice.”
Milk quality production placed sixth out of 38 teams and Floriculture placed tenth out of 71 teams.
“We all tried our best,” junior Marissa Delacruz said. “Even though we still need some work, we are definitely headed in the right direction.”
