Senior Lilah Adams competed at the State Congress competition at the state capital in Austin last week, going up against 53 competitors in 3A, with the top 18 advancing to finals.
“I was really excited to be competing at state,” Adams said.” Everyone there was so friendly and helped me out with the nerves of just being at state.”
Molina was one place away from advancing to finals. Although she didn’t advance, she plans to compete again in congress at the NSDA district tournament.
“I went into the round with an open mind,” Adams said. “I know what it takes now; I am going to be more prepare for NSDA by becoming familiar with evidence.”
Congress is not the only speech event Molina is involved with; she plans to try out new things during her senior year. Lincoln Douglas debate is a new type of debate that she plans to take on before she graduates.
“This will be my first time doing LD,” Adams said. “ I have been preparing for this event for a while now. I hope I do the best I can.”
