Fishing, family and work are the main things in secretary Amanda Whittlesey’s life.
Whittlesey has two sons, ages 8 and 12, both in activities outside of school. She spends most of her days after school driving her sons where each of them need to go, usually without a complaint.
“I am practically a chauffeur for my boys every day after school,” Whittlesey said. “Four days a week I drive to Fairfield to take my youngest son to soccer practice and then on Friday I go watch the oldest play in the band, so we stay pretty busy.”
Whittlesey said she does this for her boys because she wants them happy.
“When my boys are happy, so am I,” Whittlesey said. “I want them to be able to take advantage of any opportunity in life, so I am happy to stay busy taking them around to do what they need.”
Whittlesey said her favorite thing to do is fish.
“I have been married to my husband for nine years,” Whittlesey said. “We don’t get to spend too much time together between running the boys around and both of us working. When we do get a chance to be together as a whole family we love to take the boys camping or fishing about every other week; we are a very outdoorsy family.”
Teacher Melissa Isaacs said that she has known Whittlesey long before her career at here at the high school began.
“The first day I walked into the secretary’s office I recognized Amanda,” Isaacs said. “She immediately said that she knew me from somewhere and after a second of both of us throwing out ideas of where we could have met, we found it. I used to work at Texas Burger when I was going to college, and that is where she knew me from.”
Isaacs said her and Whittlesey have a great friendship that built over the time span of a few months.
“I feel like if I hadn’t of met her so many years ago, we wouldn’t be as good of friends now; us meeting back then really boosted our friendship now,” Isaacs said. “I love Amanda’s personality because she is so friendly and sweet. There will truly never be anyone like her and I am proud and honored to be her friend and colleague.”
