She can feel the eyes of the crowd as she marches onto the court. There are butterflies in her stomach as she gets closer to the middle of the court for her first performance of the year. Before she knows it, she is dancing – her heart is racing, but she is smiling at the crowd while they roar with approval.
“At Meet the Bison I felt excited but nervous at the same time,” freshman Iris Valles said. “Once it was over, I felt like I lost a lot of weight off my shoulders.”
School spirit, students and community members met at the annual Meet the Bison to sponsor the athletic and performance groups. The annual baked potato dinner was switched out for a spaghetti dinner.
“Personally I thought it was a nice change,” junior Dylan Cornish said. “I love spaghetti. Also, I think switching things up keeps things interesting even if it is just changing out a potato for some meat balls.”

“I’ve never seen a school with such support as Buffalo,” junior Logan Watson said. “Really surprised me with all the school spirit and how important our sports are to the community.”
Belles, band and cheer all performed at Meet the Bison. These groups have practiced for the coming up season since the end of July.
“The officers started on July 23rd by learning the contest routines for the year along with a special homecoming routine,” Belle director Amanda Harter said. “I was really proud of the performance that the 60th Belle Line did at Meet the Bison. We always work to make each routine even better, and as director I know that there were little things that we could work on for the Meet.”
Seniors realized that this was their last Meet the Bison to be able to be a part of.
“I feel my last performance at the Meet was pretty sad,” senior Melanie Slay said. “This was my first and last performance on the court.”
Groups including football, Belles, band, and cheer are excited for the football season to come.
“Well it is my first season with Buffalo and we just recently played our first two scrimmages, from what I can see I’m playing for a great team and with great coaching staff,” Watson said. “We’re going to go a long way this year.”
