The strong rays of the sun in his face, sweat dripping in his eyes, fighting to catch his breath, Jarrett Fishbeck, tried to focus on the game and ignore a bigger problem- the fact that he had not used the restroom before the game. Now an hour deep into the game, and no possible way of leaving to use the restroom, it was hard to contain himself and 10 year old Jarrett Fishbeck just let it go right then and there.
“I had to go to the bathroom really bad and I couldn’t hold it in, so I just pooped my pants,” Junior Jarrett Fishbeck said. “When the inning was over, I tried to cover it up by rubbing dirt on myself, but everyone could smell and knew it wasn’t dirt.”
Maybe embarrassing then, but now, it’s just another one of his funny stories to tell. Fishbeck said it didn’t stop him from playing the sport, in fact, it turned out to be the sport he most loves. He plays ball all year-round, from the select to school team.
“I play for a select team from College Station called Twelve,” Fishbeck said. “I’m the team’s pitcher.”
Baseball, however, is not his only hobby. Fishbeck, according to friends is a really good cook. He says that he can cook about anything, but his favorite things to cook are steak, shrimp burgers and chicken.
“Besides the fact that he’s always messing with me and sometimes purposely burning the food every now and then, Jarrett’s a great cook,” Junior Makayla Gilliam said. “He is very helpful in class, always willing to help others too.”
According to his friends, Jarrett is very outgoing and silly, someone who is very approachable and always has a smile on his face. His friends say that his witty and comical personality is what makes him stand out from everyone else.
“Jarrett is a really silly person, always making me laugh and cracking jokes,” Gilliam said. “We fight like siblings but I wouldn’t trade his goofy personality for anything.”
According to Jarrett, baseball is very fun, especially when you’ve got your friends with you. Jarrett said that his most memorable times are being in the dugout with his friends or spending the night at hotels for baseball tournaments , messing around and daring each other,
“My favorite memories include being in the hotel with my friends daring each other who could get the most numbers from girls,” Fishbeck said. “Obviously I always lost, I was always too scared to actually talk to the girls.”
Jarrett not only focuses on sports, but is involved with helping around the school. He is a part of the cheer crew, always helping set up for pep rallies and the tunnel for game days. He is also an officer for FCCLA, which helps out a lot around the community, especially for the younger children.
“I like to be on the cheer crew because I get to go to the games and watch from the end zone,” Fishbeck said. “I really enjoy being a part of Friday Night Lights and making it more fun for the boys.”
