Art 2 students have spent the last few weeks working with watercolors in class.
“Students were encouraged to search new watercolor techniques on YouTube and use those techniques to paint their own watercolor flower,” art teacher Amanda Harter said. “Achieving a layered look with color variations and depth isn’t as easy as it looks when using watercolors; I am very pleased with the way their first projects turned out.”
Many students loved the opportunity to try a new medium.
“Students were given the freedom to choose their own flowers, styles, and techniques in order to meet certain student expectations,” Harter said. “I’m surprised each year with how much students enjoy the watercolor unit.”
Every project seems to be different in their own way, with various techniques and colors being used.
“Watercolors are so fun to play around with,” sophomore Mykayla Dennix said. “They kind of seem to do their own thing and flow around the paper the way they want which creates something either really cool or a little messy.”
