President Donald Trump started to reshape US Immigration enforcement policies via Executive Order this week. He is starting to fulfill his promises he made throughout his campaign, starting with the construction of a wall in the southern border as well as the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
He signed an executive order to boost border patrol forces and increase the number of immigration enforcement officers who carry out deportations. He also announced that sanctuary cities will be stripped from federal grant funding.
Trump confirmed his plans to build the wall with federal funds and then seek reimbursement from Mexico. However, Mexico has rejected this idea. Trump insisted negotiations with Mexico would begin “relatively soon” but Mexico’s president has already cancelled a planned trip to the US next week because of Trump’s actions.
