Several members of the speech team attended a meet in Mabank on Saturday. Although there were many large schools competing against them, they still managed to bring home awards.
“We had just a handful of students competing last weekend,” Melonie Menefee said, “but they did a great job.”
In CX Debate, Tate Slaughter and Evan Grisham won two of their three rounds; Sheri Donaldson had good ranks in Prose; Andrea Garica placed sixth in Congress and Nadia Garcia placed sixth in Extemporaneous Speaking. Both girls did well in their other events, too.
“I was content with my accomplishment,” Andrea Garica said, “but there is always room for improvement”
The next meet will be in Tyler on November 5, and Congress has district competition on November 10 in College Station.
