Teacher Jill Henson stretches during yoga class. The teachers get together every Monday and Wednesday for the class, which is taught by teacher Cindy Eppes.

Anyone who heads out the side door of the 200 hall will catch a sight that they might not have expected in a high school classroom: a group of teachers doing yoga. Teacher Cindy Eppes is sharing her skills with teachers two afternoons a week and teaching them how to get in shape, physically and mentally.

“I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years now,” Eppes said. “For me, it’s a great way to get rid of stress and stay fit and toned at the same time.”

For some teachers, an opportunity to do yoga for free and with a group of their coworkers was too good to pass up.

“I have always wanted to do yoga, so I was happy when this opportunity came about,” Amanda Whittlesey said. “It’s very relaxing, quiet, and my kids aren’t there, so that’s a plus!”

Eppes has been pleased with the turnout so far.

“I was very excited when I was asked to teach a yoga class,” Eppes said. “We have a really great class of people.”
