Sibling rivalry and getting along can be a problem for many people, but for Allison and Kayla Grissett it’s a completely different situation. Senior Allison Grissett has to listen to older sister Kayla, a BHS graduate who has come back to the high school as a coach and teacher.

Kayla Grissett was very active in her years in high school. She was in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, NHS, Student Council and Spanish. Allison is in many of the same activities, including volleyball, which Kayla coaches.

“Kayla makes the us better and tougher so we become a better team,” Allison said. “She’s had a lot of experience and has been successful with the many sports. There’s a lot of trust in her coaching.”

Kayla knows that coaching is a challenge, but it is one she is enjoying, even the challenge of having a sibling on the team.

“Since two-a-days, the girls have worked very hard and and have made many improvements,” Kayla Grissett said. “Allison is a very hard worker with much determination; I also see a lot of myself in her.”

Coach Grissett said she has goals for this year as well as long-term goals.

“One of the main thing I would like the girls to learn would be for them to always work hard, and that hard work can be transferred to the real world,” Coach Grissett said. “I would also like to build a great program and be a good role model for the girls.”
