Senior Kyrell Miller signs with SHSU while athletic director Gary Grubbs and coach Ray Ramos look on.

Kyrell Miller, a senior at BHS, signed with Sam Houston State University on Wednesday, November 12th to play baseball for the Bearcats.

“It is a dream come true,” Miller said who has been playing baseball since T-ball. “I can’t wait to pitch in my first game as a Bearcat.”

Kyrell will receive $5,225 per semester to play baseball with the Bearcats. Coach Ray Ramos says that this is an honor that Miller has earned.

“Kyrell’s signing and dedication to the game of baseball is something that is a testament to his hard work and dedication,” Ramos said. “He is always working to make himself better, and because of that, he makes his teammates and team better. Kyrell has always given 100% of himself to his team and is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever coached in terms of baseball.”

Ramos said that he has no doubt that Miller will be successful at SHSU, but is glad that he still has a season left at Buffalo.

“I know that Kyrell will be successful at the next level,” Ramos said. “He will leave some big shoes to fill come next year, but before he moves on to the next step in his life, we will be counting on Kyrell to be a leader as we gear up for a playoff run in class 3A and possible district title.”
