Andie Kilgore is a dynamic senior whose passion and dedication shine brightly through her school activities. As a talented musician, much of Andie’s time in and out of school is spent on band activities. She is the Bison Brigade Drum Major, but her talent goes deeper, and her hard work has paid off: In the past couple of months, she has earned spots in two honor bands – Association of Texas Small School Bands and the CenTex Honor Band.
“I’ve been in band for four years,” Andie said. “I enjoy the band because I’m around my people, and I’ve been successful.”
As busy as band keeps her, though, she has plenty of other activities as well. She is a member of NHS and the Student Council, and she also performs with the theatre group.
“I’m in so many events because I enjoy being busy,” Andie said. “NHS and all of the different activities will look good on college applications and when applying for scholarships, so I enjoy that part of it.”
Andie also uses her acting skills in speech competitions, performing in Program of Oral Interp. Speech teacher and theatre director Melonie Menefee said she enjoys having Andie’s talent and dedication in her programs.
“Andie is always focused and does what it takes to show she is serious about doing the best she can do, whether it is in theatre or speech or band,” Menefee said. “It has been so enjoyable watching her hard work pay off this year, in band and elsewhere. Her work ethic is going to help her be successful in whatever she decides to do in life.”
