Theatre started this year off strong with early casting auditions for their fall show, Southern Fried Funeral. The theatre leadership team helped with running auditions and were able to get acquainted with new members.
The students came after school to try out for various parts as stage manager AnneMarie Hadley interviewed potential tech members. Hadley expressed her excitement for this year’s tech team.
“All the new tech members are freshmen this year,” Hadley said. “I think it’ll be nice to teach them how to run things properly after I leave this year.”
After weighing her options, director Melonie Menefee posted the cast list. Senior Raegyn Dennix was cast as Harlene Frye, one of the lead female characters, and shared her enthusiasm for this year.
“I think the cast was perfectly picked out,” Dennix said. “I am very excited for our fall play.”
Cast and crew are full steam ahead for the fall show, which is a comedy, although they will be taking a week off of rehearsals to run a theatre kiddie camps for elementary and lower junior high students. Company members are eager for the upcoming season.
“I believe auditions went very well,” Kilgore said. “We had quite a few newbies come in and audition for both acting and tech. Everybody seemed happy with what they got as far as parts go and the new techies will be a big help to our fall production this year.”
