Decals with Dads is in its third year and gives players and their dads (and granddads, uncles, and even a few moms) a chance to make some memories together before the first game of the season.
“I think it is a good way to get parents involved in us playing football,” senior Luke Brown said. “This is a memory that I will never forget.”
For the players it wasn’t just about putting the decals on the helmets, it was a great bonding moment with the people who are also their biggest fans.
“It was fun to get to do something with my dad,” junior Cole Davis said. “I liked having a chance for him to be involved with me and the football season.”
The activity gives players something to bond with their loved ones over.
“It was a fun time allowing someone who is inspirational to me to help put decals on my helmet,” junior Abraham Medina said. “I was glad for the event to give us the time together to do it.”
The varsity boys dedicate a lot of their personal time to play and practice football, so for the parents to have a few extra minutes with their sons is very meaningful.
“It means a lot to me,” sophomore Donte Lott said. “My uncle and i don’t get to spend a lot of time together, so this was a special event.”
Players new to varsity were excited to be a part of an event they had watched happen for the past two years.
“It was a lot of fun to get to experience decals with my dad,” freshman Darrel O’Shea said. “Especially being a freshman on varsity, I was proud to share this experience with him.”
