The city tree will stay lit until after the new year. The tradition of a city-wide event started after the new city hall was built a few years ago.

The city’s Christmas tree lighting has become an annual event, including a small parade for the second year in a row. After the parade, there were games and activities as well as booths set up to enjoy.

“I had a lot of fun going,” sophomore Christina Rose said. “I had a lot of fun; there were fun rides, and I got to eat cookies and drink hot cocoa. I also got to ride the big swing they had. I definitely plan on going next year.”

 The parade was a highlight.

“I enjoyed being in the parade,” senior Alyncia Jackson said. “It was tiring and my legs hurt, but it was all worth it.”
