Seniors Omar Almeida and sophomore Nicollette Arabie all competed in the UIL State Congressional Debate finals in Austin in early January. Last year’s meet was first postponed due to COVID and then went virtual when the winter storm threatened the state. This year, however, competitors were back in the state capital, with prelims held on the University of Texas campus and finals held in the Capitol building. Both Almeida and Arabie, who finished 10th, made finals.
